In my dreams

Finally.

After almost a year since her death, I finally got more than a glimpse of Ruthie in my dream last night.

In the dream, she followed me into an emergency clinic that I was visiting for a poisonous spider bite (I’ve had scary spider dreams since childhood even though I actually get along quite well with the eight-leggeds in waking life.)

As she zipped in the door of the clinic, I turned to gauge the reaction of the staff and they sort of shrugged off her canine presence in the human waiting room.  Ruth was older and deaf, but very quick and spry.  I told her to wait under a chair with hand signals.

When they took me into the back room to get several injections of the spider anti-venom – I know!  Just like a movie! – she darted through the swinging doors to stay by my side.

That’s all I remember of the dream.

I woke with the simple joy that an old friend’s visit brings.

(and no actual spider bites, thank goodness.)

Sorry, Jen. You know how amazing I thought she was…didn’t know, now I’m teary eyed. :)

Jen, she’s beautiful. Thanks for sharing. Can’t believe it’s been almost one year. I still miss Hachi too.

“I woke with the simple joy that an old friend’s visit brings.” I got choked up when I read that.
She’s keeping an eye on you.
You’re so lucky, I would love a visit from my old boy. It’s been too long.
Thanks for sharing.
