January.  The days are short.  So are the dogs.

Meet Gristle.

When you’re a human people doctor, there are all sorts of lines you’re not supposed to cross with your patients.  Thankfully, these rules don’t apply to veterinarians.  They are fully able to fall madly in love with their patients and demand payment in puppies instead of money.  That’s what happened with Gristle.

I mean that’s almost what happened with Gristle.  Here’s what his person said:

Ahhh Gristle, he is a one of a kind.  He is absolutely adorable and small but can be the biggest pain in the butt and instigator of riots ever.  I am a veterinarian and  I totally fell in love with his parents (Mini Wire-Hair Dachshunds) and as the pregnancy went on, I knew I have to have one of the babies.  I had always had big dogs and never before had an interest in owning a small one.  At the time I thought Gristle was the perfect name for a little ankle biter!  Well, he has lived up to his name and more.  A tiny fellow that has never looked in the mirror – he has no clue how small and cute he is.  In his mind he is a huge, muscular, ferocious Rott or Dobe.  He is and always has been the boss of all the pets in our house.  You cannot help but love the little guy and his strong spirit!  He is 7 years old now and I have no clue how I will handle life without him.

Happy new year, Gristle.  And Wrigley.  And Angus.

Wrigley is a 2 1/2 year old silky wire-hair Dachshund that we rescued about 1 1/2 years ago.  He is the sweetest, most adorable and easy going fellow.  Angus is a 3 1/2 year old Dobe that we rescued about 3 months ago – he is absolutely gorgeous and fierce looking but wouldn’t hurt a flea.  He is by far the most mellow Dobe I have ever met and we are blessed to have him.

I have Dobi. She is 10 now and still a beautiful puppy! Need more pictures of Angus.

Angus is beautiful. I don’t usually like Dobermans (maybe fear) but he is gorgeous. I would take one of him in a minute.
