Wow, I’ve never seen a tongue quite like Molly’s before. She’s a beautiful girl :o )

Hi Wanda,
Thanks for your nice comments about Molly! I adopted her from a labrador rescue shelter and when I saw her tongue I was surprised and a bit perplexed! The doctor at the vet said she must be part Chow (which I didn’t even know what that was!) and after doing research, it made perfect sense. Even though she’s a spitting image of a labrador, she has the speckled tongue and doesn’t like fetch or swimming (she’ll wade in the water but that’s it) and is really a sled dog.
Thanks again,

I love that first picture; she looks just like my Chuck in it.
Black pigment on the tongue doesn’t mean the dog is chow, it just means it’s extra pigment on the tongue. My shepherd mix has it too and there’s no ounce of chow in him. I think it gives a lot to their personality. :D
