on Ice

by Jen on January 13, 2011

Here’s our little buddy, Sumo, dogmonstrating what it has been like getting around in Atlanta this week.

(Atlanta + ice storm = a number of things, including  no school, mail service, driving, meat, beer, eggs, milk or bread at the grocery.  If  Sherman had come through Atlanta with some kind of superhero ice gun instead of matches, it still would have fallen.  We are somewhat helpless & completely housebound  in frozen weather conditions.  Most of my neighbors who got out of their driveways had slow motion car crashes within a few blocks.  We were smart enough to tear out our kitchen for a diy renovation just before being trapped at home for days, so we found ourselves foraging – just like Sumo.)

This post, from a recent Wisconsin transplant*, describes the mood nicely & you can see photos of the hill that Gladys reluctantly sledded with me on a plastic sled.  That particular snowventure was not documented in photos, dagnabit.

But I did catch her writing her name in the snow. . .

*This is not the word in typical use.

Great little pic. Sumo is my “nephew.”
Much enjoyed,
