the Reenactment

by Jen on April 12, 2011

Civil War reenactments were commonplace where I grew up, and I loved them. Don’t get me wrong, I have zero attraction to war, but I loved the Confederate uniforms, the tents & campfires, the horses, the slight feeling of danger & the sideburns*. Today is the 150th anniversary of the 1st shot of the Civil War, but this particular reenactment has absolutely nothing to do with that.

This has to do with dogs turning two. Well, actually, just two dogs turning two.

First this shot from 1997

Ruth with strawberry cake.

And this shot from last evening

Gladys seems to share Ruth’s bewilderment – why the hell is my perfectly wondrous food on fire?!

And she questions the permission settings on sitting at the people table

then she got down to business & made a wish.

I’m pretty sure that it was ‘Please get that fire off of my food’,

but she didn’t say.

*these may or may not have been historically accurate, given that it was the 1970′s. . .
