Once upon a time, we adopted Ruth, the canine founder of Fetching Tags.  When Ruthie finally slowed a bit, at age 8, we adopted the best dog in the entire world, Hazel.  Fast forward a bit, & we adopted the most wondrous cat in the universe, Preacher*.

From the simple act of claiming these beasts, then sharing our hearts & home with each of them, our lives have truly been enriched beyond measure.  To spread this wealth as a company, Fetching Tags has supported canine rescue with a portion of every purchase made since our very 1st day in business.  We have also donated hundreds & hundreds of ID tags to dogs & cats awaiting their forever homes in rescue.

We constantly brainstorm about ways to support rescue & encourage the adoption of homeless animals.

Meet Missy.

Missy was rescued 10 years ago from a Sheltie rescue in Southern California and has been with me ever since. She is still active in Agility at the ripe age of 11 years and she is just a puppy at heart. Missy does therapy work on the side of her agility trials and enjoys long naps in between.

People always get a kick out of her tag whenever they see her, because it really fits her personality…. in charge of the boys and a bit of a priss.

This is Stella. I adopted her from the Eastbay SPCA in Jan 2010. She was found with a broken leg that had to be amputated. I was born with a congenital amputation and walked on prosthetic legs since age 1. So when I was looking for a dog and saw her it just made sense! Then in April 2010 I fell and had to have part or my femur amputated. I am learning to walk again, now as what I call a “street cred” amputee. It has been more difficult then I predicted and can’t imagine going through it without my nurse Stella. Between the two of us we have four legs, she completes me!

Dogs can have stories with many chapters, and they rarely end anywhere close to where they began –  especially if any of the chapter titles have the word rescue in them.

Take Jack’s story.  The beginning of his once upon a time was set in South Central Los Angeles, where he was known as Kobe Bryant.

Somewhere along the way, Jack’s story took a turn for the better – that’s where the Rescue chapter started.

And now that Jack is a lucky 7, you could say that he has finally reached  his happy chapter. Or you could say it’s his lucky chapter – either one is fine with him.

Meet handsome Benny.

His person says

He’s a German Shepherd/Greyhound mix, about 11 months old now.  I adopted him from BrightStar German Shepherd Rescue. He loves people and dogs and is the happiest, friendliest little guy I know.

I got him about 2 months after I lost my precious 14-year old shepherd, Harper. First time in 20 years I didn’t have a dog in the house and it was awful.   Still miss her every single day but Benny has brought so much light and laughter to my life.   He was a stray and was in a high kill shelter in Ohio when BrightStar got him and brought him to Rochester.
I’m so lucky he was placed in my path! He was lost but so was I.

Now we have each other and I consider the rescue to be completely mutual!
